Watershed Surprise

There is a man-made watershed near where I stay which I do not visit often enough though it is just across the road.

Today, as I took the photo above, I saw something white moving towards me.

Is this a heron?

Recently, I traveled to a Nature Park, paid entry tickets, walk a few miles and climbed up towers to watch migratory birds.
I failed to take a single decent shot of any bird.

At home, this white heron just walked right towards me!
It must have thought I was part of the landscape.

See its reflection in the muddy water?
It came so close that there was no need for zoom lens; not that I have any.
I was hoping that the bird would come close enough for me to take a macro shot of its eyes...

Fat hopes ... for now.
Maybe next time.

  5. :) Here in Venice you can see Herons just in centre of the city. Excuse me for inserting a link to my blog, but I want to show you one I recently met, very close to a public boat stop.
Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures, but I had to take action in a hurry.
    Here it is.

  7. So, this is a heron. That's great! They could be migratory birds as I see more of them around in Malaysian ponds like ex-mine pools and also near my home here where there's a river flowing by during the winter months of Dec and Jan.

One, I read from fengshui books that birds bring good news and opportunities and their feathers can be used as protection during travelling.

Wishing you a happy and prosperous CNY!
